Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

Building a brighter future using renewable energy.

Renewable Heat Incentive

Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

  • Provides a tax free income for each KW of heat energy generated
  • Earn approximately £300 - £1250 tax free income
  • Tariff levels are set to offer better returns than the gas grid

What is the Renewable Heat Incentive?

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) was launched in November 2011, and has been put in place to encourage more homes and businesses to use renewable energy sources to generate heat energy.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) provides a tax free income for every kilowatt of heat energy that is produced through a renewable source. These renewable energy sources include thermal solar panels, heat pumps and biomass boilers for example.

Earnings and savings

Depending on the type of renewable energy source that
you install, the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) gives
you the opportunity to earn approximately £300- £1250
a year tax free income.

The rates that you receive will be fixed for the duration
of the scheme, and like the Feed In Tariff (FIT), they
will never decrease, but will vary depending on
the type of renewable energy source that you use.
These tariff levels have been set to provide a better
return for households living off the gas grid.
